Fire Safety Notification

Forest Fire Season is in effect in Newfoundland and Labrador from May to September. Before you burn vegetation, wood, paper, brush, or debris a permit is required through Provincial Forest Management Offices.

Please note, burn permits are automatically suspended when fire hazard conditions reach restricted levels. If permits are suspended, all permitted burning must stop immediately. Burning is not allowed when a fire ban is in effect or when the Fire Weather Index is: Yellow (high risk), Orange (very high risk), Red (extreme risk).

Residents must check the daily Forest Fire Hazard Map before lighting any outdoor fire. https://www.gov.nl.ca/fal/wildfiremanagement/fire-hazard-map/
