Water and Sewer Notification
We would like to remind all residents of the critical importance of protecting the efficiency and integrity of our municipal water and sewer systems. Recently, we’ve seen a troubling increase in blockages caused by inappropriate items being flushed particularly towels, clothing, swiffer cloths and other non-biodegradable materials.
These items can cause severe damage to the system, leading to major blockages, service disruptions, and backups. The result is not only inconvenience but also significant financial costs to the Town often running into thousands of dollars for emergency repairs, equipment damage, and labor. These are public funds that could otherwise be invested in vital community services.
To help prevent these costly and avoidable problems, please follow these simple guidelines:
- Only flush toilet paper and human waste.
- Dispose of all other items including: towels, clothing, wipes, and sanitary products in the trash.
Please note that the Town may need to investigate and trace the source of blockages within the system. Where a specific property is identified as contributing to misuse, the Town may pursue cost recovery for damages, repairs, and associated labor.
Your cooperation plays a vital role in safeguarding the health, safety, and financial well-being of our community. Together, we can ensure our water and sewer systems remain reliable and efficient for everyone.
